Getting apps from the App Store
The App Store is built into WispOS. Find games, apps and agents under More → App Store, install one with Get, open it beside your conversation or ask Wisper to open it, and set an app's routine.
The App Store is part of WispOS. Every listing is an app: a game, a tool or an agent. Each one is a single package that WispOS checks and installs. Nothing runs inside the store itself; an app runs only after you install it.
Finding it
In WispOS, open More → App Store in the sidebar. The store has five places to look:
- Today: a few picks, changed from time to time.
- Games, Apps and Agents: one shelf for each kind.
- Search: by name, or by what an app does.
Click an app to see its page: screenshots of it on a desktop and on a phone, what it does, what’s new, what it may ask for, its privacy label, its age rating and its help pages.
Installing an app
- Press Get on the app’s page.
- WispOS checks the package before opening it: that it’s the exact file the store lists, and that it’s a valid WispOS app.
- You see the install sheet: the icon, the name, who made it, its size, its price, the permissions it may ask for (each with its reason) and what it collects. Install it from there.
The button then says Open. When a newer version is listed, it says Update; updating keeps what the app had stored.
A Get button on a store page in your web browser opens WispOS on that app, with the same install sheet.
Using your apps
Every app you’ve installed is on the Apps page in the sidebar, with Open, Help and Uninstall.
- Open shows the app beside your conversation, in the browser drawer. The drawer’s fill-the-window button gives it the whole window.
- Ask Wisper. “Open Places” or “let’s play Starbreak” and she opens it for you.
- Chat cards. Some apps teach Wisper new cards. With Places installed, “where should I get breakfast?” comes back as a card for each spot, with the rating, a line from the reviews and Directions. Lists keeps a live list in her chat that you can tick off.
- Agents from the store work like shared team agents: when your question is one the agent knows, Wisper asks it and tells you who answered.
Routines
Some apps can come to you on a schedule you pick. Morning Review posts your day as a card in Wisper’s chat, the weather first; News opens today’s paper. Nothing is scheduled until you choose a time.
- Set one from the app’s own Routine control (WispOS asks you once, and you can say no), or on the Apps page under Routines: pick the time and Every day, Weekdays or Weekends.
- At the time, WispOS opens the app or posts its card in Wisper’s chat, so your phone gets it too.
- If the computer was asleep, it runs once when it wakes, up to four hours late, and never twice.
- Change or stop it on the Apps page whenever you like. Uninstalling the app stops its routines.
In-app purchases
Every app in the store is free to get. Some offer extras inside the app, like Merge Drift’s 10 Undos or Night Match’s Aurora Deck; the store lists them under Get and on the app’s page.
- Buy from inside the app: WispOS slides up its own purchase sheet with the item and the price, and asks for Touch ID or your computer’s password.
- WispOS keeps what you own, not the app, and it stays yours if you uninstall and install again.
- Real payments are on the way. Selling inside apps is where WispOS is going, and real payments are being built now; they open with paid apps.
- Agents have no purchases.
What an app can and can’t do
Each app runs in its own sandbox:
- It has its own storage, kept across updates and removed when you uninstall it.
- It can’t see your files, your projects, Wisper’s memory or other apps.
- It carries everything it runs. It reaches the internet only at addresses it declared, and only if it has the network permission.
- Notifications, location, your calendar and the rest: WispOS asks you the first time the app needs one, not at install, and you can say no.
Every app in the store was reviewed for quality and safety before it was listed.
Removing an app
On the Apps page, press Uninstall, then press it again to confirm. The app and everything it stored are removed.
