Quick asks, the popup and your voice
Ask Wisper something from any app with ⌥Space (Alt+Space on Windows), and talk to her out loud instead of typing.
You don’t have to switch to WispOS to ask Wisper something.
⌥Space: a quick ask from any app
Press ⌥ Space on a Mac (Alt Space on Windows) in any app. Her popup appears with a message box. Type, press Return, and carry on with what you were doing; the answer shows in the popup and stays in her conversation.
The same popup slides in by itself, with a chime, when a report lands or a timer’s due. Press Esc to put her away.
If ⌥Space does nothing
A keyboard shortcut belongs to whichever app claims it first. If another app (a launcher like Alfred or Raycast, for example) already holds ⌥Space, WispOS starts without it rather than failing. Free the shortcut in the other app and restart WispOS.
Talking instead of typing
Press the microphone in Wisper’s message box (on her page or in the popup), speak, and press it again. What she heard is sent the moment you stop, like pressing Return. Press Esc while she’s listening to throw the take away; nothing is sent.
Inside the WispOS window you can also tap Control twice to start and stop a take. On her page it goes into her message box; on any other screen it opens the popup and listens there.
The first time
Speech is turned into text on your own computer, not by an online service. The first time you press the microphone, WispOS downloads the speech model, which takes a minute; after that it starts at once. Your computer will ask permission to use the microphone the first time too.
What happens to the recording
The audio is turned into text and thrown away. Nothing is kept, and nothing is sent until the take ends.
